2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

State leaders and members of the Royal Family gathered in London and Windsor, UK from 19th to 20th April to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The theme of this year’s meeting was ‘Towards a common future’ and the week began with four forum events: Commonwealth Business Forum, Commonwealth People’s Forum, Commonwealth Youth Forum, and Commonwealth Women’s Forum. A formal ceremony took place on Thursday the 19th April in which the Queen officially declared the Commonwealth Heads of Government 2018 open and the start of meeting proceedings. The final day of CHOGM saw Heads of Government travel to Buckingham Palace for the Leaders Retreat followed by the announcement in the Leader's Statement of the outcomes from the meeting, which included the importance of strengthening the Commonwealth by sustainable financing and the declaration of HRH Prince Charles as the next Head of the Commonwealth.
