CATA Congratulates and welcomes new Commissioner General of the Seychelles Revenue Commission

Varsha Singh was appointed the Commissioner General of the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC), from 1st  April 2024. Her career spans over 28 years, marked by senior roles at the South African Revenue Service (SARS), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the African Tax Administrators Forum (ATAF) where she made significant contributions to the global tax as well as customs discourse.


Prior to joining SRC, Varsha served as the Head of Strategy Planning and International Cooperation at the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), where she was pivotal in steering tax policy and administration towards sustainable development for Africa and established the ATAF Women in Tax Network.  Her tenure at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Centre for Tax Policy and Administration as the Deputy Head of the Global Relations Division further solidified her expertise in international tax matters.


Recognized for her results-driven leadership, Varsha has been instrumental in fostering strategic partnerships, advocating for gender equality, and spearheading transformative changes in tax policy, customs regulations and digitalization. Her commitment to cultivating a high-performance culture is evident in her ability to leverage innovative technology, nurture leadership, and implement robust processes to maintain world-class organizational standards. During her tenure as Head of International Relations at SARS, Varsha’s visionary leadership led to the founding of ATAF, serving as the Chief Operating Officer of its interim secretariat. She also co-facilitated the G20 Development Working Group’s Pillar on Domestic Resource Mobilizations, emphasizing capacity building and knowledge sharing.


Varsha holds a Master’s degrees in Business Administration, International Customs Law and Administration, and is an alumnus of the Women in Leadership Programme at Henley Business School. Her significant contributions to integrating developing countries’ perspectives into global tax policy earned her recognition by the Women in International Fiscal Association (IFA) Network in 2019, as part of its “Recognizing 100 Years of Women in Tax.”
